Longfellow wrote a poem entitled "The Old Clock on the Stairs." It's a takeoff from a quote by Jacques Bridaine (written in French) which I'll read to you now:
L'éternité est une pendule, dont le balancier dit et redit sans cesse ces deux mots seulement, dans le silence des tombeaux, "Toujours! jamais! Jamais! toujours!"
That translates: "Eternity is a clock, of which the pendulum says and re-says without ceasing these two words only, in the silence of the tombs, 'Always! never! Never! always!"' And so Longfellow, building on these sentiments, wrote his poem:
Somewhat back from the village street,
Stands the old-fashioned country-seat.
Across its antique portico
Tall poplar-trees their shadows throw
And from its station in the hall
An ancient timepiece says to all, -
"Forever - never!
Never - forever!"
Halfway up the stairs it stands,
And points and beckons with its hands
From its case of massive oak,
Like a monk, who, under his cloak,
Crosses himself, and sighs, alas!
With sorrowful voice to all who pass, -
"Forever - never!
Never - forever!"
By day its voice is low and light;
But in the silent dead of night,
Distinct as a passing footstep's fall
It echoes along the vacant hall,
Along the ceiling, along the floor,
And seems to say, at each chamber-door, -
"Forever - never!
Never - forever!"
Through days of sorrow and of mirth,
Through days of death and days of birth,
Through every swift vicissitude
Of changeful time, unchanged it has stood,
And as if, like God, it all things saw,
It calmly repeats those words of awe, -
"Forever - never!
Never - forever!"
In that mansion used to be
Free-hearted Hospitality;
His great fires up the chimney roared;
The stranger feasted at his board;
But, like the skeleton at the feast,
That warning timepiece never ceased, -
"Forever - never!
Never - forever!"
There groups of merry children played,
There youths and maidens dreaming strayed.
O precious hours! O golden prime,
And affluence of love and time!
Even as a miser counts his gold,
Those hours the ancient timepiece told, -
"Forever - never!
Never - forever!"
From that chamber, clothed in white,
The bride came forth on her wedding night:
There, in that silent room below,
The dead lay in his shroud of snow;
And in the hush that followed the prayer,
Was heard the old clock on the stair, -
"Forever - never!
Never - forever!"
All are scattered now and fled,
Some are married, some are dead;
And when I ask, with throbs of pain,
"Ah! when shall they all meet again?"
As in the days long-since gone by,
The ancient timepiece makes reply, -
"Forever - never!
Never - forever!"
Never here, forever there,
Where all parting, pain, and care,
And death, and time shall disappear, -
Forever there, but never here!
The horologe of Eternity
Sayeth this incessantly, -
Halfway up the stairs of our soul's ascent to the heart of Christ stands the 'Old Clock'. We can picture the old grandfather, "a massive oak," smiling or frowning at us on the landing. Like him or not, until we reach eternity he marks the times of our testing and the fulfillment, or non, of the hours.
And so today's message from our beloved Lanello is that we meet "never here," but "forever there," in eternity. However, he explains that
Eternity is not a place to which we go -
It's the cosmic consciousness I know.
Here and now we are One. And ...
"There is no death, no parting, no sorrow
But all-oneness tomorrow and tomorrow ..."1
Forever 'there' in eternity
Never 'here' in time and space:
For "I AM everywhere in the consciousness of God!"
So long as we dwell in the relativity of time and space (which in the absolute sense of things are unreal but to whose actualities and temporalities and sentimentalities we are bound until we transmute and transcend our karma), we shall never pierce the veil or commune with the saints or speak with our God face to face. But when we know (even though the soul be bound by karmic chains to mortality's prison house) that the here and the now is eternity, then we are loosed in consciousness from the "never" vow and rather bound by the "forever" vow.
And so it is upon this soul-liberating message from Lanello, which is for our celebration on this occasion of the eighth anniversary of his ascension, that I would feast with you today.
February 26, 1981, marks the beginning of a twelvemonth for the opening of the path of the Heart through the ascended soul of Mark L. Prophet, our Ever-Present Guru, so that through his Victory your heart and the heart of your twin flame may be made one. It is a year - and a decade - for the initiation of the union of our twin flames through the Eighth Ray and by the mighty figure-eight flow. For it is by the Ruby Ray that we are sealed in the causal bodies of our twin flames.
We do not so often dwell upon the mystical union of twin flames in our conversations from day to day, or in our prayers, because we are so busy accelerating, becoming one with the Christ, and receiving the initiations of the heart through the magnanimous heart of Lanello. And this makes us more God Self-conscious instead of all too self-conscious in the lesser self.
And so as we come together on his ascension day we anticipate the descent of his mantle upon us each one. And that dispensation is as the descent of the Paraclete on Pentecost, for when the soul of God ascends back to his heart, the 'by-product' of that fusion of the Father and the Son is the release of the Holy Spirit.
As each year we claim the mantle of Jesus Christ our Lord both on the feast day of his ascension (forty days after his resurrection) and fifty days after his resurrection (Pentecost), so each year we claim the mantle of the Ascended Masters whose ascension dates we know. Of course, there is nothing to stop us from claiming that glorious Electronic Presence, that great causal body of the Light-momentum and attainment of any of the Ascended Masters or of the entire Spirit of the Great White Brotherhood in the hour of need or every day of the year!
And the results are immediate: We experience the drawing nearer of our souls to our Beloved Mighty I AM Presence and Holy Christ Self and the greater union of twin flames both here and now and in the foreverness of God.
This day, then, is for the celebration of the Victory of twin flames - ours and yours!
And thus the visualization for this feast of Light continuing throughout the year's soul journey on our Cosmic Clock shall be for all of us twin causal bodies: As Above, so below - your causal body above, your twin flame's below (the mighty River of Life connecting the two). And then in the great cosmic interchange we see the whirling of the spheres as the two become one, the two seeds of Light, nuclei of twin flames in the original White Fire Body becoming the individualized Mighty I AM Presence of the male and female creation, now separating, now merging as the whirling T'ai Chi: the union of our God consciousness One.
And we realize, "Never here, forever there."
Never here in time and space, even if our twin flame is seated beside us in the flesh. Never is there, never can there be, eternal spiritual union through the consciousness of time and space but always is there that eternal, spiritual union in eternity. This means that time and space, though they monitor eternity, can never contain it.
But what is our eternity if it is not in our Mighty I AM Presence and causal body of Light? That is where we find eternity and the eternal cycles of our God-free beings, and that is where we find our blessed twin flame. When we know that eternity is now and that we live forever in the Eternal Now, when we know that, then yes! we can and do experience that union, according to our capacity, forever here! To each his own true love.
It is possible to be humanly acquainted with the twin flame and yet to be worlds apart in vibration. As long as we dwell in flesh and blood and time and space that timepiece will continue to say, "Never here, forever there." And the "forever there," of course, creates the longing to be "there." But we should not be forever longing - languishing for a love we might have had in the past and may have in the future. We must cast out the demon of procrastination! Then cut the ribbon of time and space and realize that to long for the Beloved is an absence of awareness of God in and as the Beloved "where I AM." It's an absence of awareness of the I AM THAT I AM where you and your twin flame are forever One.
There is no need for us to wait in time for the eternal union of Love. There is no need to accept death as the open door to Life or Union or Love. But our change of consciousness can make all things new. For God said, "Behold, I make all things new!"2 This alchemy of the heart brings inner peace and a sense of our wholeness, as Above, so below, that we could never have known before. This realization of our soul's liberation is instantaneous oneness with the God Self - instantaneous oneness with the twin flame.
And when we come to that point of realization by the very logic of the Word in our midst, by the Logos of our hearts, there is a healing of all conditions of consciousness. Name any condition that burdens you and tell me if it is not healed by the dissolution of the sense of time and space, if it is not healed by the entering in to the white fire core of your Mighty I AM Presence. All that stands between you and your God Flame is not karma, is not this world and all that's in it, is not the astral plane but your sense of time and space.
Eliminate time and space and all there is is God here and now in eternity. This is the wondrous path by which I am God-taught of Lanello. It is the wondrous path of perpetual joy. Understanding and living this joy here and now, we can keep the eternal vow of Love. It's a very simple and sweet message. But behind the message is the full dispensation of the descent of the mantle of Lanello, portion by portion, as all who lay claim to it are able to receive it. So let's claim it today and every day with alleluias to the I AM THAT I AM and a joyful noise unto the Lord:
I claim the mantle of the Ascended Master Lanello in God's name! (9x)
For the occasion of this the eighth cycle of his annual ascension initiations Lanello is wearing a fiery white cape with a mighty Ruby Ray cross of a bishop of Light in the center of his chest which can be seen on the inner garment as the outer cape parts. Upon his head he wears the bishop's mitre, white and ruby, all trimmed in gold.
He comes as a bishop of Christ representing the Church Universal and Triumphant, ministering to our souls and to the entire Mystical Body of God on earth and in heavenly octaves. He comes showing us that it is by the Blood of the Lamb (represented in the Life-essence of Love's Ruby Ray) and by the Mystical Body of God (represented in the entire Spirit of the Great White Brotherhood ascended and unascended) that we eliminate time and space and that we ascend into octaves of Light.
Think, then, of the burdens of the sense of separation you have borne. Think of the cross of Light and the cross of karma that you bear between yourself and your twin flame and think again of the healing Love of this great union of the whirling spheres of your twin causal bodies of Light, born in the beginning out of the White Fire Body.
As we come apart for an evening to contemplate this Great Love of the immortal spheres that we share, we can say to ourselves, "Is any thing too hard for the Lord?"3 Is there anything - any point of nonresolution between ourself and our twin flame - that we know about in the far reaches of cosmos or in the four corners of the earth that cannot be resolved?
Indeed, where there is allegiance to the Light, anything can be resolved because the great causal bodies of our own God consciousness as Alpha and Omega, as our own twin flames, are one by the mighty initiation of the flow of Light over the figure eight. And it is through Lanello's causal body and his sponsorship (and through that of our sponsoring Ascended Master El Morya and others of the heavenly hosts that he brings us nearer to) that we are able to attain to this God-realization.
Thus he comes to bring to us a mantle of Light, a mantle of his Universal Christ consciousness. He comes to remind us of our soul's need for faithfulness to the Holy Church. He teaches us that the Holy Spirit's "Community of the called-out ones,"4 is the true and original meaning of Church. By this we define our oneness, wed to one another and to Christ by his Body and his Blood - his Alpha and his Omega.
This joyous celebration is for your oneness with your Beloved Mighty I AM Presence and Holy Christ Self, the eternal Guru, and the marriage of your soul to the Lamb - to the Christ of our own beloved Lanello. Each of the Ascended Masters, having passed the initiation of the Lamb, having come into the fullness of his own Christhood, also comes into this great accord of the Shepherd and his sheep.
We rejoice to be sheep (souls and chelas) upon the hillsides (gradations of consciousness) of the world. We rejoice simply to be called by Lanello. For today he is carrying the shepherd's crook, symbol of the authority of the Word, and we delight in his Word.
O the joy of the Presence of Lanello! What can I tell you of this joy? What can I tell you of his heart? I think of all of the moments that became minutes and hours and years. And what of the twelve years of time and space in which I knew him through the unfoldment of his magnanimous heart? These have already become our eternity - tucked away in the twelve bands of our causal bodies.
What can I tell you of my moments with Lanello? There is very little that I can tell because all that I know of him I have already become. And therefore to remember segments in time and space is difficult. But to impart to you the Christ flame he has placed in my heart, to give to you his joy and his strength of discipleship unto our Lord Jesus Christ - this I can and shall do in all the years to come. And I will be with you, faithful to this calling unto the infilling and infiring of your souls and spirits with the Holy Ghost.
For I can tell you that twenty years ago I was not what I am today. Now I am the fusion, my soul one in his, of so great a Love of all that We Are, I AM. And therefore not having seen the before and the after, most of you do not realize the real meaning of wholeness in my life or what the wholeness of your twin flames in God can mean for you. Nor may you realize the meaning of the full flowering in me of the grace and the love, the mercy and the wisdom of his heart/my heart - the one complementing, adorning, and entwining the other.
And so, what Elizabeth Barrett Browning wrote of the love of twin flames must be included in this tribute to all whose hearts are open to receive their true love:
How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of Being and ideal Grace.
I love thee to the level of everyday's
Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.
I love thee freely, as men strive for Right;
I love thee purely, as they turn from Praise.
I love thee with the passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints, - I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life! - and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.
Truly, in these words, the poet has uttered our painfully unspoken "How do I love thee?"
The words Mark wrote in our song to Mighty Victory which speak of wisdom's atonement of sin5 remind me of the Rosary, "now and at the hour of our [Love's] victory over sin, disease and death." And they confirm Elizabeth Barrett Browning's last line that our love is purer, stronger after we get the victory over the "sting of death" which is sin.6 For I have seen the miracle of the wisdom of Lanello to be the very purging, the very forgiveness, the very transmutation of sin and the sense of sin that opened the heart to Love.
What is sin? Incomplete self-assessment in God, dwelling in the maudlin or the sentimental or the mundane instead of in the highest octaves of Light. It is straying from the God-center of our twin flames in Love. It is the sting of death itself, as Paul wrote.
Have you lost your sensitivity to Life because of the grossness that comes upon you through the sense of sin and through giving in to temptation? The great penalty of giving in to the temptation to sin and to sustain the sense of sin is precisely the density that comes upon the consciousness as the karma we create by sinning.
Mark would always go after those who had the incomplete perception of God. He realized that the state of mourning was the result of this incompleteness. He wanted us to be able to feel the hearts and souls of our brothers and sisters throughout the world. When we are one with him he takes us to them and plants our dynamic decrees on the altar of their hearts. And there is a bursting of sacred fire as immortelles of wisdom's hope and love's mercy garland their souls.
Mark would always bring hope to every chela. He would teach us the hopelessness of self-indulgence! That, he said, is the sinful state. Sometimes he would leave us feeling sorry for ourselves and then again he would force us to throw off that self-indulgence to realize once again that without hope in our Higher Self we suffocate in our self-sins.
The presence of his wisdom was indeed a brilliant fire, a piercing light that would expose the lesser consciousness - its incompleteness, its incompetence - and the absurdity of sin itself. And even before the process of the confession of sin or of its atonement would be complete, we would find that wisdom's flame would have banished the night of small-mindedness, the lesser view, the selfishness of the lesser self that is the root of all sin.
O the alchemy of wisdom! Wisdom as the atonement for all of our self-ignorance, all of the ignorance of the Great God Self - this is my experience with beloved Lanello.
To be in his presence was to know the banishment of all that is less than the Christ. Such an understanding of forgiveness, such an understanding of tenderness and true love, this was the healing of my soul that my Lanello gave to me.

Because thou hast the power and own'st the grace
To look through and behind this mask of me
(Against which years have beat thus blanchingly
With their rains), and behold my soul's true face,
The dim and weary witness of life's race, -

Through that same soul's distracting lethargy,
The patient angel waiting for a place
In the new Heavens, - because nor sin nor woe,
Nor God's infliction, nor death's neighborhood,
Nor all which others viewing, turn to go,
Nor all which makes me tired of all, self-viewed, -
Nothing repels thee, ... Dearest, teach me so
To pour out gratitude, as thou dost, good!
This divine forgiveness is not only the description of the twin flame, it is the love of the Guru.
When one stands in the shadow of a mighty oak tree such as Lanello is, one stands in the presence of a cosmic consciousness that has lived through all time and space and all eternity. It is God's, all God's - the marvel being that we see Him passing through Lanello whom He has made His own. One knows that time and space cannot long contain such a vessel. Before our very eyes he has transcended the cup of his earthly portion.
In Lanello's Presence one's entire being and consciousness would be enfolded and raised up. He would not have to speak. By his mere contemplation of God I was raised to a higher sense of God; by the mere sound of his voice, his footstep, I knew more about the Ascended Masters, moment by moment - by the blending of our voices as we sang at the pulpit or as I listened, rapt (always seated at his side on the altar where he would have me), as he preached the Word. In our togetherness, wherever, whenever, I could feel my soul being attuned by the finest tuning fork of cosmos to the inner delight of God.
He leadeth me beside the still waters of the Mind of God. He restoreth my soul with the true Teachings of my Lord. He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for the sake of my soul and my soul's union with the I AM THAT I AM. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of Death, I will fear no evil, for the living Guru is with me; his rod and his staff they comfort me ...
Before I even knew the meaning of the person of the Guru I was swept up in his mantle. Before I was ever tutored in my outer self in the meaning of the Guru-chela relationship, I was already one in this figure-eight flow (so bright was the Light) by his magnanimous heart. He did it all. At inner levels he extended himself and enfolded me until I was caught up in the Divine Union before I experienced it on the outer. Through Mark, the same fiery spirit who had written down the gospel that bears his name, my Jesus reached out to me. And I heard Love's call my soul was waiting for: "Come, leave your nets [of karma] and I will make you fishers of men!"7
The transfer to me of Lanello's mantle, as well as that of the Mother of the World, has made me the lover of the souls of all people of Light upon earth. It is a very intense and personal love that I feel, and I know that it is Lanello's love loving through me all of you and all of the souls that we haven't seen in the flesh who are out there - as real, as fiery, as full of fervor as we are. I see them and I feel them in every country. In my heart I know every one of them personally. And even as I scan the octaves in this moment accorded me by the 'Old Clock', I know them.
I know them because he has caught me up into his mantle - into his causal body of Light. And the army of the Lord is mighty indeed across the face of this earth and they are being reinforced by the Faithful and True and the armies of heaven! And the saints in the earth are being delivered by the violet flame rolling over and through and under them. They are being cut out of the astral plane by the legions of Astrea and Archangel Michael and the burdens are being lifted and they are raising up their heads and they are affirming that God is in them too!
Lanello's loving of the people of Light upon earth is known to me because I understand how he loved me and loved my soul. And in the understanding of the love of the Master for the disciple, the disciple for the Master, and then the twin flame for the twin flame, one perceives perfect Love. And so by the grace of God I perceived this perfect Love in Lanello.
I suppose that is the greatest gift, to have been able to observe perfect Love in manifestation in one son of God I knew. And yet I am hardly able to tell you an episode of perfect Love because the manifestation of that Love transcended time and space. It was the tenderness of the heart of God that one felt through his heart. It was like being a babe swaddled in the blanket of the Divine Mother. The expression on his face - his look, his presence: it was a strong love they conveyed, deeply caring and faithful to the soul.
Mark Prophet's love was the love of noncondemnation!
The Ascended Masters and Morya and Mark saw that I needed and that he needed a twelve-year experience together for the transfer of the Flame - the Flame of the dispensation for this activity of the Great White Brotherhood, the Flame of the Messengership, the Flame of our twin flames and causal bodies, the Flame of the Divine Mother - and the Flame of the Guru.
I saw these twelve years unfold the initiations of the twelve lines of the Cosmic Clock in my life from the spring of 1961 until the spring of 1973. And I saw that Morya and Mark would never spare themselves nor the rod if there was a need to instruct and tutor my soul, to discipline, and to point out what was unreal and what was Real in their Chela.
It was the singular purpose of my Beloved to see to it that in this final twelve-year cycle of his soul's incarnations on planet earth he might impart to me all that he was and is. He withheld nothing. Such was his unspeakable Love. And then as suddenly as he had appeared in my life, he disappeared to mortal eyes, accelerating in the sacred fire of the ascension coil - only to continue to be right where we are. And I saw the fervor of his heart - as below, so Above, now forever there but ever here - as his fiery spirit co-occupied time and space and eternity.
I would like to point out to you that although Mark and I have been in the training and the service of the Great White Brotherhood for many, many lifetimes, yet in this life these twelve years were a necessity for the laying of the foundation of the mission of the Two Witnesses prophesied in Revelation 11, which has been and continues to be ours to carry out.
For our calling is to set forth Christ's true and complete message for the Piscean age by restoring the Lost Years, the Lost Teachings and the Lost Word of Jesus, and to bring this two-thousand-year dispensation to its spiritual conclusion with the delivery of the Everlasting Gospel that ushers in the new age of Aquarius. This we have done in our published works, through documentation taken from the archives of the retreats of the Brotherhood, establishing thereby the foundation for the religion of the Universal Christ taught by all World Teachers and setting the standard of the Master-disciple relationship that leads to the victory of the soul's reunion with God through the ascension.
With the supporting sermons, lectures, discourses and dictations that comprise our total, and as yet unfinished, work - all of which contain the Lord's prophecies for our day - this mission will be accomplished by the grace of God and his most faithful servants whom he has sent to assist us in this monumental task. But it never could have happened in this century had we not by free will submitted our souls to these precious twelve years of preparation upon the Lord's threshing floor.
I would like you to take our example and through the heart of the Great Divine Director give yourself the opportunity to experience the full cup of a twelve-year cycle of a sincere and dedicated striving on the path of personal Christhood under the Ascended Masters.
Please realize that this evening Lanello is telling you that it is practically impossible for any Ascended Master to give to you what you need in chelaship for your life's mission in less than twelve years. And that is twelve years of intense service and the intense melting by the sacred fire of the elements of the human consciousness and the human karma whereby you become a portion, a percentage, of the law of your Guru and you are able to take on a certain responsibility for the lineage of your Guru and for his agenda in the world of action.
There is no way that you can try on the Ascended Masters' Teachings for an hour or a month or six months and then look at the results in your life and say in all honesty, "This teaching is not for me; this teaching doesn't work!"
When you think of the alchemical action that is needed in the soaking out of the four bodies and the electronic belt (the vehicles of karma that tie the soul to earth) by the violet flame, by the aura of the Ascended Master who is willing to sponsor you (and you are greatly blessed if you do indeed have an Ascended Master sponsor, for not all who cry, "Lord, Lord," are received), when you think of the cosmic energy that is required to transmute aeons and aeons of time-and-space consciousness and all of the human effluvia we have filled it with, surely you must realize that only in time and space can the soul's redemption be won.
Won't you recognize that because we have coils of time-and-space consciousness wound round the core of being, that because we have a flesh-and-blood vehicle that must be emptied in order to be filled with the Light (so the soul might weave the deathless solar body and ascend to God), that the marking of the hours in the compartments of time and space by the giving of violet flame decrees is absolutely necessary!
If it were not so, Saint Germain would have told us! And these compartments of opportunity for self-transcendence (and that's what they are), are lawfully divided by the pendulum of that "old clock on the stairs."
Eternity is a clock - a cosmic clock, if you will. Its face is that of your Mighty I AM Presence (superimposed upon the rainbow rings of your causal body) measuring out segments of Life. Even your heartbeat is a reminder that time is finite and that the tick-tock of "Forever - never! Never - forever!" will come to an end.
What matters is neither the endings or the beginnings nor the separations that time and space bring, but that you have filled those cosmic intervals with éternité. For if you do, when the mold is broken, your soul, once the prisoner of time-space, spreads its wings to fly - already a part of eternity. And in this alchemy wherein time is tolled in the chiming of the spheres of universal awareness and finite space becomes infinite grace, the soul takes all of her eternities with her; for now that she is perfected in eternity's hours, she can contain them all.
Knowing this, let us realize that in considering the path of the ascension it is up to us to give God the opportunity for his perfect Love to fill the cup of our beings. Let us give him the fullness of ourselves to drink, even as in Holy Communion we drink in all of him. Thus is our prayer to Divine Love: "Drink me while I am drinking thee." For only by this Love in the cosmic interchange of twin causal bodies do we conquer time and space.
The perfect Love of the Master, the Ever-Present Guru Lanello, will not leave you alone. He will not leave you as he would not leave me. He would wrestle with me and with my spirit to see to it that every conception of my mind and heart would be perfect, finely tuned for God, for Krishna, for Morya, for Mother Mary - for my sweet Jesus. Every misconception must be purged by Wisdom, by Sacred Fire, by Love. The Messenger must be readied. For the Messenger must go on.
I can witness to you that I have been loved and loved and loved by the process of the Refiner's fire through one so dedicated and so determined that he would not let me go until the fullness of his Light, God's Light, would flow into me and be retained by my spirit, by my soul - and not be lost - in his physical absence.
He would not leave me until my physical vehicles, my four lower bodies, could be the embodiment of the essence of himself whereby he no longer needed to be physical: for he could be physical through me. He had to know, the Brotherhood had to know that my soul would be secure in his vibration and in his flame, which are God's. No, my Beloved would not leave me until I had balanced 51 percent of my karma!
The Ascended Masters are very determined Gurus. (Especially when they have lifelines, i.e., deadlines, to meet!) In fact, they can be fierce! And it's up to us to be very determined and, yes, fierce chelas!
It is up to us to be willing to have the human ego broken. To cast ourselves upon the rock of Christ and let our stubborn wills be broken. This is Christ's message.8 It is up to us to be willing to come back for more and more and more of that Light. And the Ascended Masters can do nothing for us unless our free will is engaged in the process - unless we consent to their advice. In reality only we can do it. Thus we are, in reality, our own Guru, for only we can submit to the Guru!
O the beloved El Morya, his was the ever-flowing stream of the will of God that spoke to me through Lanello!
I came to know this mind of Morya through the mind of Mark when I met the two of them while a student at Boston University. From the moment I began to hear Mark speak in the "upper room" on Commonwealth Avenue where students of the Ascended Masters gathered, I lived each day to hear and do the word of the Guru. And O how we are always learning when we put ourselves at the feet of the eternal Gurus!
And who is the mind beyond El Morya but the Great Divine Director and the Great Blue Causal Body we associate with this Teacher of our teachers, this Manu of the Seventh Root Race. And then we see into that skyey blue canopy of the Archangel of the First Ray, Archangel Michael, who with the Elohim Hercules and his twin flame, Amazonia, were pillars in the founding of The Summit Lighthouse. These are the hierarchs (i.e., Gurus) of the First Ray whose lineage, including other great beings of Light, ascends to the throne of Alpha and Omega.
And so we find as we come down the chain of Hierarchy that the Ascended Masters with whom we deal give to us this benefit of their fusion in Love, through the figure-eight flow of Light, with all the great Gurus who have preceded them back to the heart of the Universal Christ consciousness in the Great Central Sun.
Their commentary on the planetary scene spoken to me through the fine mind of El Morya and the Christly attunement and prophet's mantle of beloved Mark presented the dilemma of Light and Darkness, Good and Evil, in a world of relativity and base ignorance of the who, what, when, where and why of human existence.
They explained that the Darjeeling Council of the Great White Brotherhood was dedicated to the enlightenment of humanity concerning this dilemma and mankind's reason for being. They said that it is to the meeting of these challenges that the Ascended Masters and their unascended chelas have been dedicated ever since earth's evolutions descended to their present state from etheric cities of Light - traduced as they were by the same fallen angels who would bind them to self-ignorance today. Thus the calling to be trained and anointed a Messenger (i.e., a prophet) of God and the Ascended Masters was that heaven might deliver not only the teachings of self-knowledge in the I AM Presence to the children of Light but also the judgments of the Lord upon the 'tares', the seed of the wicked in their midst.9
I can tell you that being trained and prepared for the Messengership was the richest experience of my life. It is heaven's reward here on earth. My cup runneth over, for time and space cannot contain the holy words of Morya El and Mark. O my Father, how thou hast blest my soul, that thy children might be fed!
And so to follow Lanello wherever he would go was the greatest opportunity and the greatest joy of my heart. And to be able to impart to you, who truly are "the living" upon earth, the essence of his flame must be the second greatest opportunity and the second greatest joy of all ages of my witnessing unto the Lord on earth.
For I know that for us Lanello is the Elect One who cometh. I know that for his chelas he is the One Sent. I know that through the Sacred Heart of Christ Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mother Mary he has a direct tie to every soul of Light upon earth. I know that you can pull upon his mantle at any hour of the day or night and speak to him and tell him of a need, personal or planetary, and he will answer that need to the fullest extent of the Great Law. (So please do your part!) And I know that he is as fiercely dedicated to liberating each one of you here today and all who shall ever read these words as he was and is dedicated to the liberating of my soul unto the final victory of the ascension.
As we mark the completion of the eighth year of Lanello's ascension, you have the greatest opportunity you have ever had to come into alignment with his great causal body. And in each succeeding year of his Victory in heaven and yours on earth, as you both add those rings to your tree of life, your opportunity to access the attainment of his causal body (and through it that of the entire Spirit of the Great White Brotherhood) can be greater.
As you will it so, as you make it so, so it shall be.
When you think of the opportunity of listening to the dictations of the Ascended Masters through him, you realize that in those dictations you are watching the process of this figure-eight flow - of two causal bodies fused as one, the mighty causal body of Lanello and that of the dictating Ascended Master. And each such event is a unique mathematical equation whereby each causal body is multiplied and maximized by the other.
When you make your heart and soul and mind, your four lower bodies and chakras a vessel for the Light descending through the Master and the ascended Messenger, then your own causal body that is your specialized attainment becomes the cofactor which produces the highly individualistic application of the Masters' release on earth. In addition, the astrology of the day and hour of the delivery of the dictation - charted with the combination of your astrology with Lanello's and mine and with the final embodiment or the hour of the ascension of the dictating Master - gives you a prophecy of the potential of multiple cycles of your own chelaship and God-Self-mastery!
As the cycles turn, hour upon hour, year upon year, there is that very special release as we celebrate not only Lanello's ascension but our own and that of our twin flame. And each cycle is a full cup of the Body and Blood of Christ by our dynamic decrees, by our love to one another, and by our service to all life through the Great White Brotherhood. As we drink of the White Light and the Ruby Ray we are that much more fused to our own God Self through Lanello's assistance; and through our Holy Christ Self we are ever more one with our own twin flame.
So to think that we have our Only Mark albums containing all of the dictations of the Ascended Masters ever delivered through Mark as well as his sermons and discourses, to think that we can listen to this rich voice - the voice of the century - to think that we can track it into the eternity of his causal body through which we can then journey sphere unto sphere - why, it is the greatest joy and victory and opportunity that could come to the people of a planetary body! And it has been a long time since an opportunity such as we have has been given to chelas on the Path in the world at large.
And so, those of you who are beginning to understand the meaning of the fusion of heaven and earth through the Presence of Lanello, know that you have a Guru that you can hug. Know that you can hold on to that mantle and that you can tug! Know that you can talk to him whether about the most mundane and simple things or about the most complex laws of the universe. He could explain the stars and he could understand the most human of our problems and he could point out all of the plots and ploys of the fallen ones designed to make us indulge in our human consciousness and to detract us from the path of life.
He knew so well the wiles of the serpents and he could see whenever these serpents would come upon any of his chelas with their aggressive mental suggestions and off-beat vibrations; and he would be the great challenger of that serpent consciousness that they would then let in. And he would not lay the blame upon the serpent but he would lay the blame upon the individual who was entertaining the serpent!
He would not give you a scapegoat (or a snakeskin)! No, he would insist that you slay that beast and he would tell you that when you are aligned with it you are as guilty as the serpent itself because you let in that astral pollution: you and you alone let it flow through your chakras. "Orifices of the stars are your chakras!" he'd say. And he would have no patience with you while you allowed those serpents to defile your body temple.
Like Kahlil Gibran's Prophet, Almustafa, "the chosen and the beloved," Mark had waited twelve years for his ship to return and bear him back to the isle of his birth ... and on the 23rd day of February 1973 "he beheld his ship coming with the mist."10
But for Mark and me the day of his parting had been one beautiful day. One beautiful day of twelve years of togetherness.
Almitra - the seeress who had first sought and believed in Almustafa - bade the Prophet: "Ere you leave us ... speak to us and give us of your truth. And we will give it unto our children, and they unto their children, and it shall not perish. ... Now therefore disclose us to ourselves, and tell us all that has been shown you of that which is between birth and death. ... Speak to us of Love ..."11
And so I, too, had posed my questions for one Day and one Night in the Lord (as I was truly nestled in the bosom of Abraham); and in that cosmic interval from April 22, 1961, to February 23, 1973, I heard the mysteries of God passed from the lips of Morya to Mark to mine. Like Almitra, the first mystery I asked and received from my Beloved was the mystery of Love.
But when I heard my Mark read to me the words of the Prophet, to my heart which knows only Love as the Guru, and only the Guru as Love, this is what they said:
When Love's Guru beckons to you, follow him,
Though his ways are hard and steep.
And when his wings enfold you yield to him,
Though the sword hidden among his pinions may wound you.
And when he speaks to you believe in him,
Though his voice may shatter your dreams as the north
wind lays waste the garden.
For even as Love's Guru crowns you so shall he crucify you.
Even as he is for your growth so is he for your pruning.
Even as he ascends to your height and caresses your
tenderest branches that quiver in the sun,
So shall he descend to your roots and shake them in their
clinging to the earth.
Like sheaves of corn Love's Guru gathers you unto himself.
He threshes you to make you naked.
He sifts you to free you from your husks.
He grinds you to whiteness.
He kneads you until you are pliant;
And then he assigns you to his sacred fire, that you may
become sacred bread for God's sacred feast.
All these things shall Love's Guru do unto you that you
may know the secrets of your heart, and in that knowledge
become a fragment of Life's heart.
But if in your fear you would seek only Love's peace and
Love's pleasure,
Then it is better for you that you cover your nakedness and
pass out of the Guru's threshing-floor,
Into the seasonless world where you shall laugh, but not all
of your laughter, and weep, but not all of your tears.
Love's Guru gives naught but itself and takes naught but
from itself.
Love's Guru possesses not nor would it be possessed;
For the Guru is sufficient unto the Chela.
When you love you should not say, "the Guru is in my
heart," but rather, "I am in the heart of the Guru."
And think not you can direct the course of the Master of
Love, for the Master, if He finds you worthy, directs your
course.
All this because
The God of Love has no other desire but to fulfill itself.
But if you love and must needs have desires, let these be
your desires:
To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to
the night.
To know the pain of too much tenderness.
To be wounded by your own understanding of Love;
And to bleed willingly and joyfully.
To wake at dawn with a winged heart and give thanks for
another day of loving;
To rest at the noon hour and meditate Love's ecstasy;
To return home at eventide with gratitude;
And then to sleep with a prayer for the Beloved Guru in
your heart and a song of praise upon your lips.12
Aye, the Guru of Love was determined not to leave until he would leave us with the fervor of his immortal spirit that our Love should not be spotted nor blemished by the world. He knew the consequences of the one great sin of omission. And he would not let us commit it: that failure to establish our soul's co-measurement with our Guru of Love.
Co-measurement: the ability to comprehend one's relationship to the Guru - Morya El - against the backdrop of time and Eternity, space and the Cause. He knew that without Love's allegiance to the Father Principle in Morya El, who as Abraham was called the friend of God, we would, one and all, lose the thread of contact with Hierarchy.
The state of Co-measurement as the Divine Friendship with the living Guru sustains the thread of contact. Individual self-worth and individual self-worthlessness balanced as a two-edged sword sustains the consciousness: Not I, but God in me. As Jesus taught Saint Catherine of Siena "I the All, thou the nothing," so her soul's mantra was to be "Where I AM, I, nothing; God, All. Where Thou art, I, non being; God, Being."
In the final analysis, only we can maintain the blest tie that binds us to our God. Thus the precariousness of the human condition. God the Guru is the Author of our faith but we must rise to oneness with him as the Finisher of our faith. Only then do we experience our faith fulfilled in "the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen," as Paul said.13
Mark would not leave us until we knew ourselves both as the Real Self and as the Not-Self and as a soul becoming either/or according to our daily choices. Mark taught us to know ourselves against the backdrop of God the Great Guru and his Cause upon earth:
If one could not see oneself in relationship to this Cause, one would lose the perspective of life, and then one could be easily drawn down into the lower vibrations that cloud the mind and bind the heart to the sympathies and attachments of, and to, the lower self which are destabilizing, diverting the attention from our single-eyed vision of the Mighty I AM Presence.
And therefore each day and each hour we hold in our hands the destiny of our souls in relationship to the Cause of the Great White Brotherhood. As we stand by that Cause, as we make it our own and play our part, the Cause will prosper each day.
But if we are not in alignment with the Buddha and the Mother, the Cosmic Forces of the Yang and the Yin, the Cause will suffer. Because we have free will. And it is possible that it will suffer ultimate defeat, and our souls with it, by our neglect. It has happened before: It can happen again. Remember Camelot of old. We've come back to redeem it - and our Gurus and ourselves.
Living one's life for the Cause is a way of life for El Morya and Lanello, the Darjeeling Masters and the ascended friends of Light we know and love so well. For the life of that Cause upon earth we are here. We sense it within. But in moments when we lose sight of it through the ups and downs of our karma and our astrology that we pass through, it is then that we are in danger of misperception - missed perceptions - and of misperceiving error. Error personified and wearing many masks will eclipse from our hearts and minds the most noble deeds we can render the souls we are serving. And worse, evil incarnate can cause us to falter and fail.
We are servants of God in the souls of his people. No greater servants of the souls of humanity have ever lived than our own beloved Lanello - and all of the Ascended Masters who preceded him. To have an ever-present awareness of those who comprise the entire Spirit of the Great White Brotherhood is the gift of the Ever-Present Guru.
Yes, Mark Prophet opened the door to heaven for us all. That's what he did. And that's how we know what we know about the Brotherhood and the path of the ascension! This is the meaning of the thread of contact.
He held it for us and never let go of it until he could place it in our hands and trust us to not let go. This is the meaning of Hierarchy and of the linkage and the lineage of all who go before and after us.
How fragile is the thread - and the grasp. Don't we remember the bright balloon or the proud kite that disappeared as a speck into the blue because we let go one windy day? And then the tears and the inner resolve to hang on tight next time?
"Behold, I AM everywhere in the consciousness of God!"
That's the mantra of Lanello. Use it often. Because one day you'll wake up and you'll be there! And I don't mean in the afterlife.I mean here and now: Forever there and ever here! God's consciousness is in the soul of every child of his heart. And there I AM, there you are.
This mantra is, was, and ever shall be the communion of the saints that transcends all octaves and time and space worlds without end: "Behold! I AM everywhere in the consciousness of God."
Mark's hope for us was and is that our souls will rise in a burst of joy and a new creativity through the discovery that we can truly contact the Mind of God through the Holy Christ Self and the sacred fire raised to the crown chakra. His hope for us is that that Mind of God in us will be the open door to eternity and to the fulfillment of the spirals of our causal bodies here on earth.
How do you bring down that enormous storehouse of Light and Love and Wisdom? How do you pull down the causal body and unwind it? Why, it is through the Mind of God! The Mind of God contains it all. The Mind of God gives us access to the mind of every Ascended Master and the storehouse of their attainment stored in their causal bodies. Do you need to know a certain fact or complexity of cosmic law? It exists in someone's causal body - your neighbor's or an Ascended Master's. By letting the Mind of God be in you - just letting it, mind you - as it was in Christ Jesus,14 you can go straight to the heart of life's conundrum and bring forth the answer.
Are you looking for the solution to an equation in life or how to create a new fuel for the people of this nation bowed down as they are by OPEC and the multinationals? The link is there. It exists in the Mind of God - in someone's causal body. And all saints and children of the Light have access to that Light, to those facts and figures, if we will pursue it. This is the meaning of Brotherhood and the oneness of Community - the pooling of the resources of our causal bodies as well as our outer attainment for the building of a better world.
Isn't it joyous that we can sharpen the mind through academics, through education and practical experience, through the tutoring of the heart, through meditation, through dynamic decrees and, beyond that, that we can feel the limitless capacity with which God has endowed us, that we are not limited to some human standard of an IQ or of a brain potential - that we can transcend it!
God can work through us. God doesn't even have to tell us how he's working through us. He can bypass the smallness of the lesser self's self-conception and through our souls and fiery spirits and the holy angels create a miracle of life or a blessing for the people without our even having the outer awareness of the Mind of God that has worked through us. But by the path of the soul's devotion that sustains the thread of contact it is so.
This is why miracles have manifested on earth through the saints who were uneducated. They became a catalyst for an entire planet to dip into the Mind of God. The Renaissance itself was the result of the saints who preceded it and lived during it. Those saints of Light were mighty candles and right where they stood the causal body of God was. They knew the fusion of the White Fire and the Ruby Ray! They were on the path of the figure-eight flow right back to the heart of God through the living Christ.
Many of the Ascended Masters we know today stayed steadfastly on that path lifetime after lifetime. They literally held up the earth with their own causal bodies fastened to their heart chakras by that magnificent lifestream, that crystal cord - that thread of contact! And they accomplished it by never letting go of that blest tie to Hierarchy! And thus they were the open door for God to reach down and touch his own and for others to ascend.
And so, my beloved, as we celebrate one life and one ascension it is exciting to realize how much expansion of God consciousness can be where you are now and how much more you can give to life if you will exceed the limits of time and space and the human potential that has been defined for you, refined for you, until you are all compartmentalized and you think you know the mortal limits to your own growth and to your own ability.
So don't let the Old Clock on the stairs ever tell you again that Forever is there and Never is here. Because you and your twin flame are here, now, and forever in the consciousness of God!
And if you dare say otherwise, you'll hear Mark saying to you: "Baloney! Baloney sausage!"
