THE PATH OF FREEDOM
IV
To Choose Freedom Is to Choose Life

To Those Who Would Beware of the Alternatives to Freedom:

Many paths and many ways present themselves coincidentally in the moment when the soul looks to the eternal day and with new hope determines to walk in the way of life. There is that "way that seemeth right," and wise was the prophet who warned the children of Israel, "But the end thereof are the ways of death."1 To choose freedom is to choose life, and to choose bondage is to enter the downward spiral of death.

I come to isolate the path of freedom by providing definition and the standards of right choice. The merchants who display their wares in the stalls of the marketplaces of the world present an array of merchandise to appeal to every aspect of the human consciousness. Their motive is material gain. They are not concerned with the spiritual gain of their clientele.

Let us not be naïve. There are those who stand in the stalls of the spiritual marts enticing souls with their wares. They appeal to the pride of the eye and the ego. They flatter the human consciousness - that same human consciousness which the real teacher will cut down as he would the brambles which choke the life of the tender rose.

The false teachers of mankind have one motive: the subjection of the soul and the energies of the four lower bodies unto their own egos, their own human will. Like the merchants with their fine silks and multicolored designs, their motive is material gain - the subjugation of the Mother (Mater) flame. They must see to it that the soul is bound to the preferences, the likes and the dislikes, of the mortal mode of consciousness; for only thus will that soul remain subject to the false teacher and the false teaching.

When the real teacher removes the veil of ignorance from his disciple and imparts enlightenment, the disciple is freed not only from his own not-self, but also from the false identity of those who misrepresent the Great White Brotherhood. Jesus foretold their coming in the last days. He called them wolves in sheep's clothing,2 and he spoke of the hireling who would fail to give his life for the sheep of the Good Shepherd.3 He said: "There shall arise false Christs and false prophets and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect."4

Now as the first rays of the dawn of the Aquarian age flood the sky with the rays of freedom, the fulfillment of prophecy is at hand, and many who have been called to keep the flame of life with the Ancient of Days5 are being deceived by the alternatives to the path of freedom.

The mystique of the false teacher is the claim of the preferred personality. It is because the human consciousness itself contains some of the elements of the false teacher that it finds itself being drawn in over and over again to the false teaching. The human ego is naturally the idolater. The human ego naturally admires itself and other human egos like itself. Instead of seeking perfection in God, it seeks to exalt the self and then proclaims: "See, I am perfect! Look at me! Be privileged to be in my presence. I am the perfected one." Thus the human ego in search of the guru will always latch on to another human ego that has set itself up as guru.

Therefore, leave your ego at home when you go out in search of the teacher and let your soul unerringly, in the innocence of the Divine Mother, be magnetized to the flame that is God. And wherever that flame is enshrined, let it linger awhile and learn of the crystal qualities of truth unadulterated. While the human ego seeks the flattery of other egos and to surround itself with the paraphernalia of the psychic dabblers who intrigue the carnal mind with their sorcery and phenomena, while the hooded ones perform their rites in the light of the full moon, let the soul seek the dazzling noonday sun of its own native Christ consciousness!

In the words of the one who sought and found the inner Christed man of the heart, you will find the key to your own Christ-identity: "If any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ or there, believe it not. ... Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert, go not forth; behold, he is in the secret chambers, believe it not. For as the lightning cometh out of the east and shineth even unto the west, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be."6

The humility and the simplicity of our messengers is an affront to those accustomed to the pomp of the ego and of the false teachers. Our messengers have no appeal for the human personality, which often finds itself in the dilemma of the crossroads in the presence of those who silently carry the scepter of our authority. In the presence of the light of hierarchy which we have placed as a mantle upon the two witnesses,7 the soul is compelled to fall to the right or to the left of the divine effulgence - and it finds that the choice that was postponed is suddenly upon it. As it is written, "The thing which I greatly feared is come upon me."8

The messengers are the magnet of the central sun that compels the random elements of good and evil, light and darkness, to polarize - and every man must choose with which side of being he will be aligned. The human ego fears the moment of choosing, the moment of reckoning when the soul will rise up, fired by the flaming fountain of the purity of the Divine Mother, to proclaim its liberation from the claptrap of the noisemakers with their perpetual distractions luring the soul from the direct route to the center of being.

Then there are those who would oversimplify the Path. They denounce the ascended masters who come as the three wise men9 to the place where the Christ is born in each individual child of God, bearing the gifts of the highest teaching, the keys to the threefold flame - gold to unlock the wisdom of the heart, frankincense the fragrance of love, and myrrh the bitterness of the discipline of the will of God. These false teachers would destroy the delicate fabric of the teaching which line by line and precept upon precept has been given for the edification of souls.

Each precious pearl of the ascended masters releases an entire causal body of light, a matrix that even contains the formula of creation. The rose that blossoms before your eyes, simple and innocent in its beauty, has locked inside the most profound secrets of science that God himself has hidden there. And in the innocence of the rose or of the child, hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?10

There is a time to adore the rose and there is a time to probe its secrets. If you would become the rose, if you would unfold the petals of your own Christ consciousness, you must be willing to pursue the alchemy and the geometry of creation. Without the freedom to create, there is no freedom. God created sons and daughters to be co-creators with him; and in the image of the Logos, the Christed ones were sent forth.

Your soul consciousness, mingling with the momentums of your four lower bodies, makes up your outer awareness. This outer awareness revolves around the outer personality that has enthroned the human ego in the place of the Divine Ego. Because the soul came forth to conquer time and space bearing the gift of free will, it is never content to rest in this outer consciousness. Its polestar is the Christ, the image of the Logos. But because of the burden of the ways of the world and the stains of thousands of years of preferential treatment to the ego, the soul responds to the glamour of the false Christs and the false prophets.

Now I ask you this question: Can there be a counterfeit creation if there is not first the true creation? Can there be false Christs and false prophets without there being true Christs and true prophets? Yet from the pulpits the wolves in sheep's clothing have denied the proliferation of the Christ consciousness and the coming of the true prophets in this age.

Jesus showed his disciples a mystery - the mystery of the coming of the Son of man, the Christed one. And he used these words to paint a picture for their meditation on the appearance of the individual Christ Self within: "As the lightning cometh out of the east and shineth even unto the west, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be." When the lightning cometh, it traverses the sky and fills the night with a heavenly brilliance. So does the individualization of the Christ consciousness fill the firmament of being with the dazzling awareness that the I AM is the Christ of every man, woman, and child.

The way of freedom is to find the path that leads directly from the place of the soul in the seat-of-the-soul chakra to the place of the Christ in the heart chakra. Let the consciousness of a planet and a people rise! let them be elevated by the power of the resurrection of the Christed one to the hidden chamber of the heart, where the Christ Self of each one is the true teacher and mentor.

The ascended masters have given to their messengers Mark and Elizabeth Prophet the message of salvation which is the message of self-elevation - the formula of alchemy whereby you, the soul, apply the law and prove your freedom now. When you meet the messengers face to face on the inner as well as the outer planes of consciousness, you will find not the glamour of a personality cult and not the sympathy that will tarry in the way with your human consciousness, but the compassion that claps like the thunder of descending fire, compelling your awareness to new levels where identity in God is forged and won, where you no longer fear the surrender of the imposter because you have glimpsed the Infinite One and the Infinite Way in the kindling fire - the light which lighteth every son and daughter of God in this and numberless systems of worlds.

Yes, there are true Christs and true prophets. There are those in embodiment who have elevated the Christ consciousness, who are worthy to be called the representatives of the true teachers of mankind. And the oneness of the universal Christ, by love, is fragmented so that a portion of that diamond of the mind of God has been cut and polished and placed within you as the lodestone of your own immortal perfection.

The fact that the universal Christ lives and moves and is the identity of every son and daughter of God can never detract from the essential oneness of the only begotten Son - the Christ that is the fruit of the divine union of the Father-Mother God. The body of God upon earth is made the body of Christ as each cell, each individuality in that body, surrenders all to the one Lord. Then all are one in the sacrifice and all together find the light that is the sun of being. And "wheresoever the carcase [the Corpus Christi] is, there will the eagles [the sons and daughters of God who soar to the heights of God consciousness] be gathered together."11

Let all who read my words know that to find the path of freedom, you must find the soul within. You must isolate the soul from the impositions and the conditionings of a mechanized civilization. You must learn to clear the soul of the false impressions of the false teachings and of the glamour of the false Christs. And when the soul, through your application of the mantra and the meditation to the Great Divine Director, is free to be itself, you will see that the soul will automatically take the straightest road, the most direct route, to the heart of the flaming Christ.

Trust then the impulses of the soul. But remember that layers and layers of false impulses must first be challenged and consumed by the fires of the Holy Spirit so that you are led not by a spirit of pride and rebellion, but by the soul's innate innocence and its desire simply to be.

I am watching your meditations, even as I am the guard of your soul's liberation in the age of Aquarius.
