To Those Who Would Pursue and Capture the Flame of Love:
The fires of Love, roseate and splendorous, pulsating upon the altar of God's Heart, are a tangible reality from which the chambered heart of each of His children may draw strength.
I AM an Archangel, and well do I realize that to some it seems altogether unnatural that I should communicate with those upon this planetary body who have faith in our existence. How like a game our solicitude must appear to those who have ears to hear but hear not,1 whose memory of other spheres has not been quickened. That we should come from realms of Light to speak to man today stretches their brittle imaginations to the breaking point. "Preposterous! Fraudulent! Hypocritical!" is their unenlightened comment on the greatest phenomenon of the ages - the passing of Truth ex cathedra from God to man.
Nevertheless, this frail yet noble possibility2 is the treasure of our heart; for in speaking unto those who believe that we are, we capture a singular opportunity, divinely ordained, to weave the mighty conduit of communion with those who require the thrust of our attention and the fires of Heaven's love in order to grow in grace and wax strong in the knowledge of the Lord.3
Humanity, so often burdened by the myriad demands made upon them by Dame Circumstance, fail to apprehend just what the divine plan is for themselves, their nation, or their world. Little do they realize, in their busyness, how the purposeless nets of sense delusion and the forcefields of ingrained habit they have woven keep them from contact with heaven, which to many still seems but a cloistered reality.
Half in doubt, half in fear, they remain unaware of the strength of Love. Often their tiny egos become absorptive of every erg of energy which Heaven has granted them. By and by, surfeited in the pain and pleasure of the world, they reach out as though to an unknown God4 whose cosmic existence and plan they can scarcely realize, yet whose help they desperately need. In the past their lives remained untouched by His love; for they were unable to conceive of either the wealth of energy with which He executes His purpose through all who call upon His name or the grand design which He gives to all who have faith in the promise of the abundant Life. But now, even in their blind reaching-out, they begin to appreciate His Consciousness and to benefit from the ideals with which He would mold the minds of all as the one means of integrating them into the fiery heart of His love and Being.
Feeling themselves remote from His Flame, as though cast upon an island of illusion somewhere in the endless sea of time and space, men and women place themselves outside the universal perspective that would enable them to apprehend the gigantic Love that has given all visible things birth and yet has never denied it to invisible things.
Beloved ones, is not a thought unseen and unperceived until it begins to function? Is not the wind also unperceived until it moves upon the branches?
Is it so difficult for you to recognize in the interplay of thoughts within the chambers of your mind and heart that as man thinks and often knows not how, so God thinks and always knows how? His thoughts are so high, so beautiful, and so totally constructive of spirals of ascending consciousness that I am impelled, in this era of mankind's involvement in a miasma of shadow and pain, to speak to you of that which the many have long neglected - the love of God.
Men suppose these four little words to be void of meaning beyond the realm of the ordinary in which they move and think and rashly scribble Life's energies as upon a scrap of foolscap. Let them understand that the love of God is the spiral of the universe, and more, that it is the cool spring and the winding stream that slakes the thirst of the ancient mariner who ponders the irony of life, "Water, water, everywhere, and all the boards did shrink; water, water, everywhere, nor any drop to drink."5
In truth, God is everywhere; the waters of Life flow freely, yet men know not how to tap the Great Fount of Life. Let them understand that the love of God is the Life-fount, that it is immortality bestowed, that it is communion with the most valiant and beautiful spirits that have ever coexisted in Divine Love. Created by God and endowed with free will, they freely and assiduously availed themselves of the opportunity to become co-creators and inhabiters of celestial realms. Men and women of today who thirst for a tangible Reality can also find it by literally drinking into God, by following the beck and call of His voice that says, "Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters!"6
How foolish it is that men suppose, in the darkness and vanity of their minds, that they who exist but a few short years upon the planet - and that in pursuit of the beautiful strands of Reality which they never quite capture even in frail moments of mortal bliss - are endowed with a reality, a substance, and an immortal existence with which Cosmic Beings are not! Surely you can see the folly and the total lack of perspective in this concept.
I am here to affirm that there are beings celestial just as there are beings terrestrial, and the glory that separates them is vast indeed.7 That which is of the earth earthy8 must change ere it become one with the heavenly. That which is of the heavenly may also change as expanding universes reach out through the transcendence of God into the domain of cosmic possibility where change itself is a part of the immutability of God, the outworking of the firmness of His purpose and His will.
How often embodied men have presumed upon the patience of an angel and, I might add, upon the patience of God! In solemn hope that one and all will soon possess their souls,9 may I say that each time one from the realm of human misery establishes himself at last in a spirit of concord with the angels and the heavenly realm, the place prepared by the Lord "that where I AM ye may be also,"10 bands of His hosts rejoice and sing hosannas in His name. They gather 'round the one newly born to the Spirit of Reality even as they gathered in Bethlehem at the hour of the descent of the Christ Light into a darkened but waiting world.11 Thus the attention of the finite self shifts from earth to heaven through the interpenetrating gaze of the angelic hosts; and through the renewed awareness of God which they bring, it perceives not only the mystical outreach of His Mind but also those magnificently endowed beings of His Heart - the angels of God.
I AM Chamuel, Archangel of Love. When I recognize the goodness of God, the long-suffering nature of God, and the faith of God in the ultimate outcome of all things, I am nigh a state which in the human octave you would refer to as being "stunned by it all." Such love as this which the Father holds for His children concerns itself not with mere punitive action (for the law of retribution functions automatically), but with the regeneration, the reeducation, and the recreation of the whole man, that he might share in the Godhead and in the design of his being which the Lord hath made.
The Architect of the universe delays the very act of creation through the shuttle of time and space, enabling His sons and daughters to participate with Him in the wonders of creativity. The foreverness of His Mind descending into the stream of temporal realization may seem a hard thing to mortal rationale; but as the glow of cosmic purpose flashes into fulfillment on earth, each child of His Heart feels first a faint glimmer of hope and then the comfort of contact with the Holy Spirit that is right where each man is.
There is no separation from the love of God. At each point in space, the infusion of the glowing reality of purpose can be expanded so as to literally expel and disintegrate unwanted feelings and wrong attitudes from the hearts of progressive men of Light. Progress is possible in love, and love can be tangibly felt within the heart. There is no need for individuals to degrade themselves in the slander of their own beings; but this they unwittingly do each time they deny Him by withholding love in thought, word, or deed. They can instead lift up their hearts in praise of His love and in so doing consciously raise their beings, knowing that ultimately they will be as they already are in the Heart and Mind of God - one with Him.
The Fatherhood of God, when it is known by man, becomes a bond of such love as to scale the stars. But unless men can direct into the chalice of future action each portion of heavenly substance, each erg of cosmic energy entrusted to them, at the same time holding hope as a beacon light upon a hill which cannot be hid, they may not know Him in this life, they may not find the Truth that sets men free,12 and for them the days may not be shortened.13 Yet if they will but clasp the hands of the Holy Spirit and the indwelling Christ and maintain faith in the integral wholeness of the Light and mutual endeavor of Gods, angels, and men, they will see emerging from within their minds a stream of white-fire substance which is the actual energy of God's love working out for them in all their affairs the inseparable unity of purpose that is immortality and contact.
In celestial joy and the fruit of loving service to God and man, I stand ready to infuse all who call unto me in the name of the living Christ with the fiery radiance of the pink flame of love, compassion, and tenderness for all Life. Won't you be receptive to the reality of its manifestation right where you are in answer to your call? I do not ask you to believe in those who are not, but in those who are. And it is from the depth of this sense of God's portion - the flame of an Archangel - that I give you my love from my heart!
