To All Who Would Meet the Challenge of the Cycles of Vain Repetitions, in the Total Warfare between Light and Darkness, Welcome to the Indian Council of the Great White Brotherhood!
The changes necessary to lift mankind out of the socket of mortal error are often sweeping and intense. The far-reaching and sometimes drastic effects of a valiant spiritual search will frequently cause some individuals to recoil or to desire retreat into a past era of lesser progress. In reality this can never be, for those who have once tasted the gift of illumination, who have reached forth their hand and eaten of the Tree of Life, are never again satisfied with the husks of mortal surfeiting or the limited scope of mortal attainment.
It will be noted that the same garment styles come full circle with the passing of the years as the fashion parade of men seeks to adorn the outer self with ever-new glamour which is but the timeworn "fruit" of repetitious human vanity. Let all who have begun the search for the goals of the ascended masters then rejoice and comprehend with a larger measure of cosmic purpose that each passing year can add spiritual stature to those whose investment of time and energy is oriented Godward. The last full measure of devotion which the Great Law may require in order to cut an individual free from entanglement must be exerted if the weary soul is to fly free from its cocoon of ignorance and pain.
At the same conference of the Indian Council, the cycle of vain repetitions and its link with the power of binding habit was discussed as a key factor separating man from the harmonizing effects of his communion with nature, thus depriving him of the benefits of the Mother flame. It was pointed out that many unfortunate men and women who presently suffer the ravages of diseases of the mind and body which were caused by contamination of the aura through wrong habit patterns were misled in their early youth by irresponsible parents who themselves were victims of an earnest malpractice of other decades.
One who serves with K-17's legions remarked that mankind are prone to react most strenuously to defend their own position when that position is challenged by a son of light. Beloved Morya stated to those assembled that this was but a surge of rebellion in defense of an ego which already knew that it was, in the vernacular of mankind, "off the beam." He pointed out that oftentimes people feel that because they are defending a position which is their own, they can in some way justify it, even though it is in error. This, of course, is pulling the wool over one's eyes, as the perceptive will admit.
Someone asked what could be done about it; he was reminded that it had been suggested many times that countermeasures of a spiritual nature were most effective in assisting those who willingly responded to spiritual ministrations, but that these measures carried little weight with those whose faith was yet pinned upon mortal opinion. This, blessed ones, is the reason it is necessary to meet the enemy on his own ground and to battle for the minds of men by the use of certain subtleties from a cosmic level.
The present age is one of total warfare wherein the battle between light and darkness continually rages and the valiant know no rest save that which God gives to the spiritual soldiers who, weary from service to mankind, reach a point of near exhaustion. I would not for one moment imply that men cannot mount up with wings as eagles and renew their strength. They have done so again and again, and they shall continue to do so; but there are times in the life of the most devoted when the weight of the cross is staggering. It is then that the succor of the Divine Mother is poured out in a more than ordinary measure.
In connection with the solving of the problems of a misguided humanity, it was noted that many individuals who were spiritually hungry [who, though they knew it not, yearned to drink in the Mother flame] were often being fed misleading material which did not satisfy their souls. Beloved Brother Chananda, who presided at this session of the Indian Council, informed us that the crux of this problem was the lack of discernment which those beginning to understand God's law often felt in the face of the many signs and sign-bearers, each pointing a different way. He also said that many of those beginning to understand the real truth about life did not yet have their spiritual centers quickened. Therefore they could not discern the Lord's body; that is, they could not feel the radiation of the light of the masters in the printed text. Because of this inability, they were often subject to the trickery of malevolent forces which function in the invisible but unascended state, assisting both embodied and disembodied black magicians who work from many levels to deceive and enslave the mind and being of man.
A brother whom we do not choose to name rose from the audience and queried, "Under these circumstances just what can be done?" We felt the earnest desire of that one to assist the council in evoking some satisfactory solution to the problem of humanity's lack of discernment; and after due deliberation it became apparent to all that our intercession on behalf of mankind must be continued and intensified. Some of the great masters who have rendered intense cosmic service for many centuries referred to the degree of their own involvement with humanity which came about through their ministrations in the name of the Divine Mother that had continually flooded forth to illumine mankind.
The cosmic beings from Venus who were attending the council sessions were called upon to give of their light and opinion upon the subject. One of them spoke for all, and these in essence were his words:
"Variation will come wherever there is a lack of understanding or of total dedication. In the case of a lack of understanding, man does not always know whether he is doing right or wrong. In the case of a lack of dedication, there is a tendency to substitute a smattering of attainment for the full manifestation of mastery. This could rightly be considered the result of mental laziness and physical sluggishness, both of which can be cured in part, if not altogether, by total involvement in the golden-rule ethic of being "my brother's keeper" and by renewed consecration to the causes of the Brotherhood. This must start with the will. Men must will to do good. They must will to woo eternal principles and to hold them in esteem. They must forsake the banal influences of the past and determine to work for right change in the future, which will most assuredly become the now!"
