Men and women who seek freedom for your posterity as for yourselves, pause to consider the mastery of your beloved Jesus over life and over death. His triumph was one which occurred within the individual domain and is possible for you to achieve today. As the world marches down the pathway of destructive materialism - that seeks to rob the very foundations of freedom and liberty by involving men in ceaseless processes unnatural in their very origins - let us ask ourselves these questions, "What can we do for the youth of this age and for the future of mankind? How can we stop the onslaught of a blatant materialism that casts its coils around the balance of life and honors the golden calf as the be-all and end-all of mortal existence?"
The acquisition of gold, of substance, of material gain, and of status is set before the youth today as the standard by which the abundant life is measured. This type of example has far too great an influence upon society to be ignored, for the contamination of the age has been its result. Beautiful forces of light, strands of infinite holiness, that beyond the stars themselves extend the glory of God in infinite realms, as plan, p-l-a-n, are also at work in the world today; yet it is the juxtaposition of opposing materialistic forces that would seek to impugn man in matter and substance and rob him of his immortal birthright.
I say, then, in the name of Almighty God, the great accomplishment of the Lord Christ in the resurrection is today desecrated by those who proclaim it on the one hand as a feast of holy days and yet, throughout the balance of the year, ignore the wonders of this immaculate concept of triumph locked within the heart and soul of man as God made him.
Let us, then, highly resolve that those men and women of good faith who have lived in past ages shall not be ignored and their lives rendered ineffectual today. Let us determine that a renaissance of spiritual culture and of the treasures of the heart shall flourish in this land of America and be spread throughout the world as never before. Value and sense of value ought to be reconsidered until, by application to the divine pattern, the unfolding of cosmic possibility is recognized and the scale of cosmic values is understood by men and women who today are bound in a round of mortal circumstance and circumscription.
You ask for freedom and liberty. You long in your hearts to feel and be as the wind, to ride upon the clouds, as in an idyllic dream, and to be as you once were - a mighty Spirit who could summon vehicle of manifestation at will, and consort with "the spirits of just men made perfect" by love. Today the lost arts of the ascended masters - arts lost to mankind, that is - have been almost forgotten, and substitutions of the material forces are replacing them in the memory of man.
As we contemplate the meaning of the resurrection this year, it is to refortify those who are holding the torch of God upon this earth with great might and power and the sustenance of the Holy Spirit; and it is also to kindle the light and knowledge of the mighty I AM Presence in the hearts of those who yet sit in the dark, awaiting the manifestation of the greater light of their religious faith or of the great revelation of progress made from on high in this day as in ages past.
Try to understand, beloved ones, that no matter what has been, the Lord God liveth, and his Spirit breatheth out energy upon the world daily. The conversion of this energy and its appropriation in right channels will make the golden age of wonder and cosmic beauty possible now, and the entering into that golden age through the utilization of modern technology to spread abroad the sacred Word from on high throughout the land and throughout all lands. This great achievement shall come about as a natural generosity from the hearts of the people who will determine that no sacrifice made on behalf of the incoming golden age is too great; for Life itself requires that the surfeiting of mortal experiences of the past decades must be halted, with all of their downward trends, and that the beauty of freedom, democracy in truth, and universal law must be amplified.
The United Nations must become an avenue of right and virtue. Some have expressed concern because Communist nations are seated in this body. Let all recognize that all nations represent people, and the world itself represents all people. In the larger sense, then, it must be understood that it is the people, themselves, who are seated in the position of their delegates; the acceptance of these people and of their delegates is tantamount to providing a forum for the expression of goodwill or ill, as the case may be, for all mankind. Better far that these sentiments be expressed in words and a possible solution be sought than for these forces, which will act anyway, to continue unabated until they erupt as a destructive storm of mortal conflict.
Let us, then, again and again, resolve to understand that mortal politics in all of its delusory activities are often penetrated by a shaft of the sunlight of God's own wisdom. It is the human acceptance or nonacceptance of divine ideas that creates the sometimes unwholesome aspects of mortal organization. Even chaos may express a relative state of order, for on earth divine law is often set aside and mortal feeling holds sway.
You have a saying that "Rome was not built in a day." Let me tell you that this may be true, but the spirals of the Spirit must be constructed now, before the complete turning of mankind into a decadent entombment in Matter which will require centuries and even aeons if men do not soon heed the call that seeks to lift them individually out of this ever deepening groove of imperfection.
Let us now highly resolve that the Christ shall not have died in vain. Let us highly resolve that his Resurrection Spirit of good works shall sweep the world as never before and bring forth this day and throughout this year - spiraling into the coming decade and throughout the coming age - the beauty of ascending hearts, individuals who have faith in God and his power to resurrect mankind, regardless of appearances, and who will put their shoulders to the wheel to uphold his spiritual ideals and the ideals of God in the family of nations.
This is not the time to drag your feet, to be concerned with the littleness of your finite self or your finite plans, often hatched in the delusion of the personal self. Now is the hour when those who believe in the transcendence of God and in the surmounting power of faith will themselves ride in that caravan, serve that cause, pray for that society and world, and see that now is the time as Christ himself said to "Go (ye) into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature."
So must you also do and continue to do. You cannot let down. You cannot say to the world, "You must paddle your own canoe." If you have a desire to assist your fellowmen, it must be implemented by right action today. We who know what is at stake make our plea, renewed from time to time, and intensified to greater strength as the years roll by, that we may counteract the intensification of recalcitrance itself which accepts social pressures and excess taxation in a complacent manner, saying, "There is nothing we can do about it."
Ladies and gentlemen, there is something you can do about it. You can pray! You can ask for wisdom! You can receive wisdom! You can be guided as to how to act and the world can be changed! It is not too late if you will act now. It may be too late for you tomorrow, and you may lose your opportunity if you do not see this today. I AM for a renewed Resurrection Spirit that sweeps the years right through and is liberty in action!
