To Our Gracious Readers Dedicated to Love's Service the World Around -
Our Most Gracious Ascended Master Friend and Brother of Light -
In the fourth century before the advent of Jesus the Christ, there lived in Syracuse, in the land of Sicily, two friends whose names were Damon and Phintias (called by some Pythias). These men, as many of you know, were students of the Pythagorean school, and both of them were consequently philosophers, or lovers of divine wisdom, as such was the intent of the headmaster, to inculcate into each student the deeper meaning of divine wisdom which is far beyond the power of words alone to describe.
The proof that this great love was both real and practical, enhancing by its power their earthly friendship, was found on the occasion when Phintias was condemned to die. For Damon offered his own life as a hostage for his friend! That the words spoken much later by Jesus apply to all time is clearly evident, for there in the example of Damon and Pythias is the example from life "that greater love hath no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friend!"
Now, beloved ones, let no man think that because he loves God, that in itself is sufficient and that whenever it pleases him he may open the door of his feeling world to any kind of human emotion toward his brother with impunity! Living as you do in an age of some peril yet surrounded by the living Light of the golden age now manifesting embryonically in the affairs of mankind, it behooves all of our chelas or would-be chelas no matter how advanced they may feel themselves to be to never fail (as God does not fail to do) to adhere to the fundamental principles and laws of divine Life, not the least of which is divine friendship.
Have you thought about it, how the world is so full of people and yet for some of these you are the only door opening into a higher world? Amidst the glorious goal of self-attainment and in the evolution of the spiritual nature one of the greatest opportunities lies in accepting the responsibility of helping another soul seeking the way. And remember, it is no different for you than for us, who, although we have attained, continue to pour out our Light and love in cosmic service to the Christ Light of every man!
It is love that opens the door, and it is love that keeps the door open for true friendship, once two lifestreams are brought together by divine law. For of a truth, no one is without someone to love, though some seem to have too many and others not enough! Of course, no one can ever take another's friendship, for it must always be lovingly given! It follows, as the day the night, that it must be lovingly received as well!
To spurn the proffered friendship of another, if it be given in deepest sincerity and especially where such a one is pursuing the spiritual path, is a universal breech, which has deterred many an individual from entering more fully into their own freedom. Often apparently small and insignificant matters (insignificant to the human or outer self) carry great cosmic weight when applied by the lever of universal law.
It is true that karmic relationships made thus in one life often await further opportunity for balance to another lifetime. Many times so termed "instant dislike" (even mild dislike is really hatred) or even "instant love" carries over into the present from past karmic ties awaiting fulfillment.
However, every student of Truth should know that life does not afford an individual embodiment solely for the sake of taking vengeance (vengeance is mine, I will repay, saith the Lord (the Law) but rather to forgive. Thus is today defined as further opportunity to make things right by Light!
To enter more fully into right relationships with all life, the sincere student must not pass by the manifold opportunities each day can bring when the calls to the Presence are for only Divine Love to do its perfect work of balancing.
Speaking of passing opportunities, I know of one case in which an individual turned down a needy lady upon a street corner, where she stood begging for a small pittance. The one who passed on carelessly was a gentleman of some means, and the lady in a previous embodiment had bestowed upon him great love; yet certain aspects of her own karma had placed her temporarily in an apparently destitute state where she felt compelled to beg, and the one who passed by never knew she had once been his own dearest mother!
While the chronology of true friendships is very long, many of which having never been dramatized remain unknown, unhonored, and unsung, there are others with which mankind are more familiar: Abraham was called a "friend of God" and the friendship of Elijah and Elias is well remembered. Readers of the New Testament have often been thrilled by the thought of John the Beloved leaning on beloved Jesus' shoulder in a gesture of his own divine friendship for the Master.
The inspiration derived from many of these friendships has been productive of much good for not only the lifestreams themselves but for all mankind who have taken the time to pause and consider. I would like to mention also that beloved Morya's and Kuthumi's great love for each other prompted them, as many of you know, to build their homes in the Orient very close to each other.
We of the ascended host realize full well that our disciples cannot "open the door," as it were, to permit every individual they meet to rush into the very sanctuary of their being; but the hospitality of the outer court can be so gracious that the Law of Love is fulfilled. As time passes with its varied experiences, a further determination can be made by these same individuals, when a richer and more complete friendship may be established.
When you work harmoniously and in harness, as it were, with another lifestream, in the bonds of human and divine friendships, even the human can be touched by the sacred fire of transmutation so that all friendship ultimately becomes a heavenly one.
Under such blessed conditions you add to your own momentums many of the virtues and blessings of the other one. (No one possesses all the talents in the same measure, and so the enrichment that comes through pure and true friendships is of God and very beautiful to behold even from our octave.)
Surely no one truly enjoys discordant manifestations between individuals or peoples (blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God!). Thus I tell you it is well to examine your own state of consciousness concerning this vital subject; for in the golden age, whose beginning rays are making themselves visible, you will behold in action more and more divine love and friendship, which will result in that loving cooperation upon which the foundations of heaven are builded. So doing, you will have manifold occasions for gratitude to your own beloved I AM Presence forever!
I AM offering to you the assistance only we can give from day to day as you make yourselves more receptive to the Light and refuse absolutely acceptance of the shadows! All the Darjeeling Council stand ready and willing to be to you true Ascended Master friends of Light indeed. So stand to this earth as representatives of our love, to you!
In the bonds of light and divine friendship, I AM
